En las artes marciales, la meditación sobre las acciones pasadas nos conduce a la habilidad y destreza en acciones futuras

Shihan Ricardo Mendoza

If we are talking about one of the most qualified teachers in the teaching of Karate Kyokushinkai nationally, no doubt we will mention the Mendoza Ricardo Gallego Shihan, 7th Dan style.

In 1977 achieved the national qualification C. N. by the Spanish Karate Organization Kyokushinkai, headed by Shihan Antonio Pinero.

In 1982 he was appointed Branch Chief (official representative of the Kyokushin style) by Sosai Masutatsu Oyama.

In 1987, he won the 4th Dan signed by its founder Mas Oyama.

In 2009 the European Federation of Kyokushinkai gives the 7th Dan.

President of the Catalan Association of Kyokushinkai Karate.

Head of the Court of Degrees of ACKK.

Department responsible for arbitration of the Catalan Federation Karate - Kyokushinkai area.

Teacher committed to the style and faithful follower of the teachings of Masutatsu Oyama, you grant us the following interview:

How do you start in the practice of Kyokushinkai?

In the early 60s I began practicing the world of sport Gymnastics after a while I realized I needed new challenges. One day we joined a group of friends and we were talking about something new that had come to Spain, was called Karate, so without hesitation started looking for a Dojo where we could start them. After exploring locate a gym called Guinardo, located in the city of Barcelona, the teacher who taught this art was Vicente del Olmo (pioneer of Kyokushin Catalunya).

First of all I have recorded in these early memory where everything was new and unknown to me, clothing, rituals, language, such respect among practitioners, philosophy, discover a new culture, care and value to any word or movement to conduct our teacher, etc., all of which occurred in 1970.
My apprenticeship was cut short by the incorporation into the Army Navy (at that time was mandatory), after sailing for 18 months and completing his military service, return to Barcelona to continue with something that had been halted months ago, the practice of Karate Kyokushinkai

When are dedicated to teaching?

Seria in 1974, I remember one day my teacher called me Vicente del Olmo, apparently watching me a long time and because of my background as a student, decided to give me the opportunity to run my own dojo, so I started teaching in the population Ripollet (Barcelona), the gym was called Marin.
After this I also start classes in the town of Badalona (1976), and finally I settled in the city of Barcelona in 1978, here I opened my own Kanku Dojo and named more than 30 years after continued in the same place.

Have you noticed differences between students from different generations?

Without falling into the topic of "days were better" and knowing that can not be generalized, if I have observed differences in new generations of students. Perhaps we could include a change in social habits, where the concept of knowledge does not get or will get linked to a process of adaptation and assimilation, we would say that impatience and achieving results Now, is what seems to prevail, if not and seek other activity that does not require much.

The concept we could move to the preparation of a good meal cooking, cooking has a certain time to get the desired result, like the karate training, with a good education we can achieve a future teacher.

What do you think of the division of Kyokushinkai?

I think the desire to differentiate themselves Kyokushin different groups causes a widespread disinformation, each claims the heritage of Mas Oyama, and to demonstrate ways to implement change techniques or kata, only what they are getting isdistort the original.

I guess things may be simpler, Sosai left us a legacy clear enough to work all the same, and if we are faithful to the original need not make so many variations. Our strength is to ensure that prevailing traditional values of our culture, so it will enrich us to organize any event that participation would be exemplary.

Imagine a National Championship (eg football) where teams were involved IFKS, IKO1, IKO2, IKO ... ... FCK, ACKK, Budokai, etc., With its corresponding public, success and the show would be insured.

Does short-term projects?

The works I do not usually rank as the projects each year made a calendar of activities, and it is executed as planned. My ideal is to keep track of the kyu and black belt, so that their knowledge is in constant evolution.

Without going any further next month of October (each year as I plan) I give a seminar for CN Dojo and teachers, we spent a weekend in the mountains Kyokushinkai living alone. This activity is not just for a particular group, if not they can attend all black belts they wish, regardless of the organization they belong.

How do you see the future of Kyokushin Karate in Spain?

Nationally there are very good teachers, but this does not mean that everyone is well where he is, I think we would have to bring together and work together to enrich the Kyokushin in general, this would provide an opportunity to strengthen our Karate ..

What advice to practitioners of our style?

As I said Masutatsu Oyama, Kyokushin Karate is Budo. We can not and we must project our work as a sport, the good practice of our art will give us much satisfaction, we will enhance our ongoing training as individuals and karate, which will help us overcome the challenges we can find.

Remember ... ... ... ... ... who lives Karate, Karate is for life.

OSU!
